Meet PT Heaven Who Passed NPTE without DPT

NPTE Without DPT: PT Heaven’s USA Success Story

Supporting Filipino Nurses on Their Journey to the USA

Becoming a licensed Physical Therapist in the United States is not always a straight path — especially for Filipino PTs navigating credential evaluations, K-12 transitions, and NPTE eligibility requirements.

For Heaven Leigh Agriz, PTRP, RPT, a proud Grandison Physical Therapist Scholar, the journey was defined by patience, resilience, and the right guidance.

And most importantly — her story proves that you do NOT need a DPT degree to take and pass the NPTE.

A Clear Timeline to Success: Passing the NPTE even without DPT

Heaven’s structured journey with Grandison:

  • January 2024 – Signed with Grandison Therapy

  • August 2024 – Received NPTE Equivalency Approval

  • January 2025 – Successfully Passed the NPTE

Her success demonstrates that Filipino Physical Therapists aspiring to work in the USA, with the proper credential evaluation and academic compliance can qualify for the NPTE — even without a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree.

For many aspiring foreign physical therapists, this is a powerful and reassuring reality.

Overcoming the “Waiting Game”

One of the biggest hurdles Heaven faced was the extended processing time due to K-12 curriculum transitions. As part of the first K-12 batch, she encountered subject deficiencies that required detailed re-evaluations before receiving her NPTE eligibility.

Instead of giving up, she relied on:

Family Support – Providing emotional strength during delays.
Faith – Keeping her grounded when burnout crept in.
Grandison’s Step-by-Step Guidance – Navigating equivalency requirements, documentation, and licensing processes with clarity.

Her story is a roadmap for Filipino PTs pursuing a physical therapy career in the USA through proper international recruitment pathways.

Here’s a quick summary of the interview and PT Heaven’s journey in passing the NPTE even without DPT. Disclaimer: Some parts were translated and summarized in context. You may refer to the full raw video for complete review, experience and tips from PT Heaven.

What part of your NPTE journey challenged you the most?

"The hardest part was definitely the waiting time. As part of the first K-12 batch, we thought the process would be quick, but there were many 'insertions' and subject deficiencies that required re-evaluation. It made the journey difficult, but Grandison's guidance made the process much easier."

Why did you choose Grandison as your support system?

"Grandison is well-known for NPTE processing and sorting out the US journey. I personally didn't have any connections or know much about the US process for PTs. Based on the recommendations and testimonials of others, I knew Grandison was the right choice."

Why is the USA your chosen destination?

"In the United States, opportunities come quickly. Even though the process to get there is tough, it is definitely worth it once you arrive because so many things can happen."
