Meet PT Erica: NPTE Passer from De La Salle Medical Health Sciences Institute

For many Filipino physical therapists, the journey toward practicing in the United States begins with a single decision—to pursue the NPTE and take the first step toward a global career.

For Erica Lopez, a proud graduate of De La Salle Medical and Health Sciences Institute, that decision became a life-changing turning point.

Today, she stands as an NPTE Passer from DLSMHSI, and a proud Grandison physical therapist who successfully navigated the complex pathway from the Philippines to the United States.

Her story reflects what many internationally educated PTs experience: uncertainty at the beginning, challenges during preparation, and ultimately, the reward of perseverance.

How did you find out about Grandison?

So I knew about Grandison when I was taking my local board exam, that was around 2021 pandemic. And during the time, someone reached out through Facebook, through Messenger, and I told them now I'm going to focus more on my locals first and then maybe I'll get back to them when I've thought about it. And then when I finished my locals for the exam... I got to a decision that I'll sign up with them.

How has Grandison helped you throughout your journey?

I could say that Grandison really helped every step—every step from the review itself for the NPTE, even the processing, even for uh with guiding me to get a tourist visa so that I can actually take the NPTE. So from that, even up until deployment, they've been with me, they've been providing support and they've been very patient with answering all my questions, all my—all the concerns that I—that I have in mind.

What makes Grandison's offer stand out to you?

With that one, I think one of the emphasis there is, one, uh they provide a secure job—there's stability in their offer of job plus Green Card. So that's one, that's something that stands out from the others.

What is your experience with GH Premier?

Honestly, it's really good in a way that they can coordinate with one another, especially when it comes to processing files or whatever the status you're in already. They will be coordinating and it's going to spare you the hassle of going all over the place. It's more organized that way.

How was your NPTE review journey?

So my review journey isn't really that—I guess it wasn't easy, but I think it's really worth it. You know, it takes a lot of patience, it took me some time, but I think that the time that I exerted is really worth it. The benefits would weigh more than whatever time would be exerted there... I think even though it's not easy, it's worth it in the end.

What is your message to others aspiring to work in the US?

If you guys want to reach your American dream, to be able to work in the US—you know, get—go to a greener pasture—then you should sign up. They're really helpful, they will not let you go until you're actually deployed.
