Achieving the American Dream: A Filipino Physical Therapist’s Journey to the USA

For many Filipino physical therapists, the “Dream PT job in the US” can feel like a long and uncertain marathon.

Licensing exams, credential evaluations, visa processing, and finding the right employer often make the journey overwhelming.

But for PT Lanisse Camille Nas (DLSMHSI Batch 2017), the path became clearer with the right guidance and partnership.

Today, she proudly stands as the 412th Grandison Physical Therapist deployed to the United States — a milestone that reflects not just personal achievement, but a structured, supported pathway for foreign physical therapists pursuing a career in the USA.

The Roadmap to Success: From NPTE to US Deployment

PT Lanisse’s journey highlights the essential steps every internationally educated PT must take:

1. Preparation

She enrolled at GH Review Center, a trusted Grandison partner, for structured NPTE preparation.

2. Examination

She successfully passed the National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE) — the key requirement for PT licensure in the United States.

3. Immigration & Visa Processing

Immediately after passing, she transitioned into a guided visa and immigrant status process, ensuring compliance and smooth progression toward US deployment.

“The process is long, but it’s moving. It’s fine to wait because we are doing the right process.” — PT Lanisse Camille Nas

Her words reflect something many aspiring US-based PTs need to hear: the journey requires patience, but with the right system, progress is steady and secure.

How did you first discover Grandison?

I found out about Grandison through a Facebook post during the pandemic. The fact that the entire process could be done online really interested me. I had heard about them from fellow PTs, but the digital accessibility was the clincher.

Tell us the story of how Grandison helped you in every step of your American dream?

They were incredibly organized. They started by enrolling me in the review center for the NPTE. They even had a comprehensive exam to ensure I was ready before taking the actual boards. After passing, they immediately transitioned me into visa screening for my immigrant and working status.

Among many reasons, give us one which made you decide to sign-up and join Grandison?

Two things: Credibility and Guidance. I saw so many success stories of Filipino PTs already in the US. More importantly, I never felt lost. I always knew what the next step was because their communication was transparent and smooth.

Please give a message of encouragement to our other PTs who wishes to know more about Grandison, and proceed in signing up with us.

I think my suggestion is go for it. Number one, credibility. I think it's very known that Grandison is known for bringing in Filipino PTS to the USA and I know a lot of PTS here wants to work abroad specifically in the US. So, if they have doubts they should go for it. At least you know, you can talk to someone so that they would get proper information about Grandison.

Who is your Grandison-partner Review Center? Why do you think it is a good thing that your Review Center is a partner of Grandison?

As a scholar, communication was seamless. Even if I forgot to update them, Grandison already knew my scores and progress because they collaborate directly with GH Review Center. It made the scholarship management much easier.

Give us a quick walkthrough of your US career journey so far. From review and eventually passing the local boards, to reviewing and passing the NPTE, and signing up with Grandison.

So I graduated in 2017 but I signed up with Grandison around 2020, I think during the pandemic. So after passing the board exam I tried pursuing first working in the clinic here in the Philippines. I pursued also academe but even before my dream is to work internationally or US. So after that, after a while of experiencing working in the Philippines I thought maybe it's about time now to start my journey working in the US. And dun din pumasok, nakita ko ung ads ni Grandison so I thought ito na ung sign. So I did that and then after that nagreview na, I took the NPTE in Hawaii and passed. Then now paalis na, matagal ung process but I think it's expected especially hindi madaling makapasok sa USA as working visa holder. So expect na matagal pero umuusad. But for me even though it's long it's okay, for me we're doing it the right way, the right process. So be patient.
